Fallen ash tree
I’ve just cut up this large ash tree, which has been lying in a local field since the summer. Although the base is rotten, there’s some beautiful wood further up the trunk.
At around four feet across at the base, it was a little challenging to work with - especially when the stump decided to upright itself! However, there was scope for some extra large blanks and plenty of firewood too.
Made safe and cut into manageable sections…
My objective was to get as many medium sized (14’ - 17’ diameter) blanks as possible, which will be used for my range of lampshades. Here’s a few sections being marked up, ready for cutting into slabs…
Looking nice and tidy at the end of the day…
Here’s some of the slabs, which will soon be cut into blanks. You can keep an eye on my blog and facebook page for updates…
